about

Early Morning Star, pianist Bob Gluck’s new recording, blends passionate songs of social justice with captivating improvisational interplay. Joined by a stellar jazz ensemble - vocalist Andrea Wolper, Syrian clarinetist Kinan Azmeh, virtuosic bassist Ken Filiano, and multi-dimensional drummer Tani Tabbal - Gluck reprises Jazz Review’s assessment of his 2011 recording Returning: “an intensity and sensitivity that is spellbinding.” Gluck’s eleventh recording–his fifth on the FMR label–presents the fruits of his current compositional creativity with conviction and emotion. The album is a welcome successor to Gluck’s highly regarded FMR recordings Sideways (2008), Something Quiet (2011), Returning (2011), and Infinite Spirit: Revisiting Music of the Mwandishi Band (2016).
